Hey there! Remember that hilarious mishap on your last DMZ attempt, ending up in Gimpo?

Go to DMZ Tour Story 1

Glad to hear you finally made it to the real Paju DMZ – and solo, no less! Major adventurer vibes!

Today, I'm going to spice up your awesome experience and lay down the ultimate, fun guide on how to conquer the DMZ Paju by public transport. Get ready for a revamped, engaging journey!

Conquering the DMZ Paju by Subway? Believe It!

Thinking hitting the DMZ without a tour company is mission impossible? Think again! I went solo this time :)

Hopping on the subway was surprisingly convenient and totally doable. Buckle up, because I'm about to unravel my route like a suspense thriller!

STEP 1

Seoul Station to Munsan Station – All Aboard the Gyeongui Line!

Catch the Gyeongui Line subway at Seoul Station and ride it straight to Munsan Station. The journey takes about an hour, giving you the perfect chance to soak in the "Whoa, I'm actually heading to the DMZ!" excitement as the scenery rolls by.

STEP 2

Munsan Station to Imjingak Station

Once you roll into Munsan Station, you'll face a mini-quest. The classic route involves hopping on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line train to Imjingak Station – but here's the catch: it only runs twice a day.

Munsan - Imjingak Train Information (as of April 2025)

  • ▶Weekdays: Departs Munsan Station at 09:20 AM and 17:05 PM (2 times a day)
  • Weekends & Holidays: Departs Munsan Station at 09:35 AM, 10:35 AM, 15:45 PM, and 17:30 PM (4 times a day)
  •

Tip

Considering the DMZ closing times, it's best to take the 09:20 AM train on weekdays and the 09:35 AM or 10:35 AM train on weekends and holidays.

Checking the timetable is non-negotiable. Missed it? No sweat, taxis are waiting like trusty sidekicks. Expect a fare of around ₩10,000 to ₩15,000. (The realistic and speedy backup plan!)

STEP 3

Imjingak Station Arrival – Walk This Way to the Tourist Center!

Hop off at Imjingak Station, and it's a breezy 5-10 minute walk to the Imjingak Tourist Center. Boom! This is where you snag your DMZ tour ticket. Once you've got that golden ticket, just follow your bus driver's lead to explore the Third Infiltration Tunnel, the Dora Observatory, and Unification Village.
